First home match on St. Patrick's day ends in defeat for Cork City

Cork City were missing a few key players today when they hosted Wexford Youths on St. Patrick’s day. In the end, the visiting team were too strong and it ended in a 3-0 defeat. Rianna Jarrett scored 2 (and missed one penalty which Maria O'Sullivan defended), and Aoife Slattery scored the third.

Women's National League returns this weekend!

This coming Saturday the Women's National League returns. Cork City's first match is against Peamount, which happened to be who they last played against in 2018. You can see some of the pictures from that match below, or the full album on Facebook.

Here are the matches for round 1:

Saturday matches:

  • Peamount vs Cork City

  • Wexford Youths vs DLR Waves

Sunday matches:

  • Kilkenny United vs Shelbourne

  • Limerick vs Galway's Women

Avondale grabs the first silverware of the season.

After a first half without any goals, Cobh Wanderers scored almost at the start of the second half, 5 minutes in. Avondale tied the game at minute 67, and completed the turnaround at the 72nd minute. The score would stay 2-1 until the end, and Avondale took home the Keane Cup. You can check pictures from the match here.

I’ll be back!

On the way home I decided to stop by Bishopstown Stadium and go see the Women’s National League match between Cork City FC Women and Kilkenny United WFC. Beautiful afternoon, and with such a quality game, I had to bring the camera out.

I’ll shall be back to photograph these matches again, that’s for sure!
